The Materials for Design course was carried out in the year 2020 at the Faculty of Product Design IUAV of Venice . In the first phase a materials mapping was carried out starting from the students' places of origin, in order to and visualise the relationships between these territories materials and production activities. The second phase saw the students active in the research of materials, interfacing with companies in the area and investigating their provenance and origin, to understand their production processes and properties. This made it possible to explore the material as a complex system of relationships, data, information, in an attempt to unite sustainability and territory and create a geographically based material library now composed of 360 different materials.

Since 2021, the course in modelling and materials at the IUAV in Venice has been an opportunity to put into practice a teaching approach inspired by the work of Enzo Mari and Tim Ingold. The course is in fact a didactic experience that combines theory and practice and is based on a 'renaissance' structure. in the first phase of this historical period there was a rediscovery of the classic, all the most important architects of the time surveyed and studied the architecture of ancient Greece and Rome. Similarly, the course is a survey, study and material exploration of design classics from the post-war period to the present day.

The didactic approach used at the Faculty of Design and Art in Bozen is made up of multiple modes of action that form a complex system, with the aim of stimulating students and helping them to develop their potential. These modes allow students to pass on the notions that form the basis of their learning, but at the same time to develop individual potential by making them a moment of comparison and collective growth.

The structure of the course is based on the intersection between two teaching methodologies: the first is linear and aims to provide students with the basic notions and those preparatory to the development of their educational path. The second methodology is open and horizontal, developed through a series of collective experiences, workshops and laboratories with the aim of improving their capacity for dialogue, confrontation and their ability to work in groups.

The exhibition design course within the Graphic Design course at the BAUER school in Milan since 2020 is based on experiential teaching: After a theoretical introduction the course is transformed into a laboratory, a collective experience for the creation of the final set-up of the course starting from a conception/design phase up to its implementation.
